I dag talar vi om kaffe kulturen i Melbourne. Melbourne anses vara en av världens bästa städer för kaffe. Det innebär att vi är jättemalliga över vårt kaffe. Dessutom är vårt kaffe normalt mycket bra.
Today's post is about Melbourne's coffee culture. Melbourne is considered one of the top coffee cities in the world. This means we're a little pretentious when it comes to our coffee, but normally the coffee is really good.
Det goda kaffet kom till Australien med Italienska invandrare, och normala kaféer göra espresso-stil kaffe. En barista kan laga många olika sorts kaffe. "Platt vit" är en Melbourne stil, liknade kaffe latte. Min svärmors favorit är en "magi", en dubbel-ristretto trekvarts platt vit.
Good coffee came to Australia through Italian migration, and normal cafes make espresso style coffee. A barista serves many styles of coffee. The "flat white" is a Melbourne style similar to a café latte. My mother-in-law's favourite is a "magic", a double-ristretto three-quarter flat white.
Jag älskar kaffe, men jag är inte alltför krävande. Min favorite café i Melbourne är faktiskt ett Fransk café som heter "Le Cafe Flo" i Northcote. De gör en stor cafe au lait med vanilj, de gör mycket god mat, och de har franska bakelser och starka ostar. Så gott!
I love coffee, but I am not too fussy. My favourite cafe in Melbourne is actually a French cafe called Le Cafe Flo in Northcote. They do a giant cafe au lait with vanilla and serve tons of delicious food, especially French pastries and strong cheeses. So good!
Trots det stora intresset av kaffe, är massor av människor bara tedrickare. I Australien, om du och vänner "go for coffee", kanske du dricker grönt te och de dricker soya chai. Despite the great coffee, plenty of people are just tea drinkers. In Australia, if you "go for coffee" with someone, you might be drinking green tea whilst they drink soy chai. It really just means having a nice chat in a cafe. If you "have a cuppa", you're at someone's house drinking tea. Swedes have their own amazing coffee tradition around "Fika".
